Nope, still can't get firefox to quit or crash...

Could you try to 'debsums -a -c firefox' (first install the debsums
package if needed) ? Please give us any message that it would return. 

Please then try to 'apt-get remove --purge firefox' and return the list of
files that 'find /usr/lib/firefox' would give you.
