I'm having this problem (texts in gtk-apps are only displayed up to the
first space) as well.

One more important piece of information: For me only non-antialiased
fonts are affected. If I turn anti-aliasing on, all fonts are rendered
perfectly. QT-apps are not affected for me at all. Affected apps include
Firefox, Eclipse, and the whole Gnome-desktop environment. These apps
are basically unusable without anti-aliasing, which is very bad, because
I don't like anti-aliasing at all...

Configs:
.fonts.conf (generated by kcontrol):

broken: http://rffr.de/font-bug/fonts.conf.broken

Robert
