Hello Clayton, I'm glad you were able to get it sorted out. Do I understand correctly that the application wouldn't even start with the 2.6.1 .ripperXrc file? If so, could I ask you for a copy of the rc file? (You can mail it to me directly instead of mailing it to the list.)
As for the confusing error dialog, I agree that it should be better. I'm working on a patch release and will try to include more information in the error dialog.
