Thank you for forwarding to upstream. I read the comment “Thank you for your
complaints about a 25 year old software package on a random other site. I
particularly appreciate the effort Emma put into proposing a fix to the code.”
of the upstream maintainer. He seems to have generated his prior fixes with AI
(Claude Opus 4.6, hence the questionable behavior), and in his comment, he
tries to be sarcastic for no good reason: Debian BTS is not “random”, and a
plain user is not expected to suggest fixes. It wouldn't surprise me if the
aforementioned quotation was also AI-generated.

I looked into his other comments on the closed bug reports, and they were on
topic. Any idea what to do if the upstream maintainer is clearly not that well?
