Package: lirc
Version: 0.7.1pre1-2
Followup-For: Bug #128072

same problem with udev:
$ mode2
mode2: error opening /dev/lirc
mode2: No such file or directory

solutions:
short:
ln -s /dev/lirc0 /dev/lirc # to be put in some init script

long:
patch the udev directory so that just after creating /dev/lirc*, the symlink is
also created.
hmmm /etc/devfs/devices.d/lirc should do something about it ... or something in
/etc/dev.d/default/ ?
