Note that this problem was fixed in FFTW 3.1 and later releases, which
should now autodetect Altivec at runtime (assuming gcc 3.4 or later).
So, it should be safe for Debian to build the single-precision FFTW
with --enable-altivec on the PowerPC.
The resulting binary will still run on older PowerPCs not supporting
Altivec, on which machine the Altivec code in FFTW is disabled at runtime.
