I finally got indic fonts working perfectly on my machine. Unfortunately I rm -rfed the ~/.fonts directory, so I cannot go back and check for sure. But anyway, now the websites like http://te.wikipedia.org/ are working perfectly fine. PS: I am ccing all the persons who helped in this bug report so that they are aware of the final result.
