That probably means Debian should move to python 2.4 ASAP. It's a pain
we are so slow to release...

Oh, you are the one who wrote it. I've been thinking of changing
dh_python to use it (or another program I'd write), but it only works
for pure-python modules, and most small packages are (just like geoip)
bindings for libraries, for which this approach doesn't work.
