But it is most certainly not what the user intends if he updates ding.

I stopped to use this switch by default, because it caused trouble with
some other packages.

Ok, point taken.

Still, the package is pretty useless if no word list is present.
How about a check whether or not a usable word list is installed. If
not, the script should advise the user what to do about it. This also
resolves the more general case of an initial install without the
--with-recommends option.
