Who said compiling? :) Using Debian official Linux packages is a very good option for servers as well as workstations. Saves a lot of maintainance work, at a minimal loss in performance. > and will never install any sound > apps like alsa-base or moc, so your patch would be useless anyway then ;) Precisely, installing linux-sound-base is a good way to disable loading of all these sound-related modules.
