Package: paraview Version: 5.13.2+dfsg-3 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: [email protected]
Dear Maintainer, when using the Debian package of ParaView, the application crashes with a segmentation fault when opening the Python Script Editor from the GUI. What led up to the situation: ParaView was started normally on a Debian system using the packaged binary. What exactly did you do: I clicked “Tools → Python Script Editor” from the main menu. What was the outcome of this action: ParaView immediately crashed with SIGSEGV (signal 11). A backtrace indicates the crash occurs in the Python editor components (libpqPython-pv5.13.so.1), with the first Python-related frame in libpython3.13.so.1.0 (PyObject_GetAttrString). What outcome did you expect instead: The Python Script Editor window should open normally without crashing. The issue is fully reproducible on this system. A shortened backtrace is shown below: Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault: address not mapped to object at address 0x8) libpython3.13.so.1.0(PyObject_GetAttrString+0xd) libpqPython- pv5.13.so.1(_ZN25pqPythonSyntaxHighlighterC2EP7QObjectR9QTextEdit+0x2ad) libpqPython-pv5.13.so.1(_ZN16pqPythonTextAreaC1EP7QWidget+0x165) libpqPython-pv5.13.so.1(_ZN17pqPythonTabWidget17createNewEmptyTabEv+0x4d) libpqPython-pv5.13.so.1(_ZN20pqPythonScriptEditorC2EP7QWidget+0xb1) This may indicate an incompatibility between ParaView 5.13 and Python 3.13 as packaged on Debian, particularly in the Python Script Editor. Please let me know if further information or a full backtrace is required.
