Package: fingerd Version: 0.17-17 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
if I install fingerd on a pristine system, I get this output when installing: ... Setting up fingerd (0.17-17) ... grep: /etc/inetd.conf: No such file or directory update-inetd: warning: cannot add service, /etc/inetd.conf does not exist Processing triggers for man-db (2.13.1-1) ... Processing triggers for libc-bin (2.41-12) ... ... fingerd uses inetd.conf to register as a service. inetd.conf is provided by inetutils-inetd. As a result, if I don't have that package installed first, fingerd is not registered and will not start If I install inetutils-inetd manually before installing fingerd, everything works just fine. inetutils-inetd should be installed as a dependency of fingerd. -- System Information: Debian Release: 13.2 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable-security'), (500, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.12.57+deb13-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages fingerd depends on: ii libc6 2.41-12 ii netbase 6.5 ii update-inetd 4.53 fingerd recommends no packages.
