Is zmq a drop in replacement? Or does it require coding changes?

I see upstream instructions seem to recommend the use of libzmq3-dev, so
maybe all that needs to happen is replace libberkeleydb-perl with
libzmq3-dev in debian/control, and everything will work as before?
