Hi Joey,
I am not entirely sure whether you are still actively maintaining
filter, but I wanted to reach out directly as this concerns the upstream
sources as well.
There is an issue in kraut.l that affects not only the Debian package
but also the upstream archive. The file contains a salute that is
illegal in at least one jurisdiction, which raises concerns from a
distribution and licensing perspective. From the Debian side, this means
we cannot easily address the problem with a simple downstream patch.
To better understand and evaluate the situation, I prepared a cleaned-up
upstream-style snapshot and pushed it to Git [1]. This version fixes
kraut.l and also drops the Debian directory, as the package has been
maintained as non-native for quite some time. This is not meant as a
replacement for an official upstream release, but merely as a reference.
I would very much prefer to import an official upstream version rather
than carrying our own variant in Debian, in order to stay properly in
sync. For that reason, I wanted to forward the issue to you and ask
whether you would consider addressing it upstream.
Kind regards,
Andreas
PS: On a more personal note, I hope you are doing well. I missed seeing
you at several DebConfs. ;-)
