Package: logwatch
Version: 7.13-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The latest version of logwatch fails to report clamav updates, resulting
from 'freshclam'.
The current clamav-freshclam (1.4.3) seems to have different output when
logging to /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log when compared to older versions,
and then logwatch can't find the updates in the file. The change seems
to have happened between 0.103.5 and 0.103.12.

The bug was reported against Ubuntu in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/questing/+source/logwatch/+bug/2067608

The curious thing is that this bug only happens to logwatch+clamav in
Debian/Ubuntu. The Fedora/EPEL versions have switched configuration to
not read from the log file, but to use syslog instead. However,
configuring it back to use the log file works, and clamav has *not*
changed output there - still contains all lines even in the new version.

Conversation upstream led to several different perspectives on what is
happening.

I am not sure if this bug needs a fix in logwatch or in clamav.
