Hi!
So, the appstream-generator package currently does not build on 32-bit
architectures due to requesting the 64-bit oneAPI TBB API. The fix for
this is likely rather trivial and I could apply it upstream, but there
is no way I can test this package on 32-bit architectures.
In addition to that, this tool benefits greatly from large amounts of
RAM and fast I/O, and it is incredibly unlikely that any 32-bit
architecture will currently offer a good experience to users.
Therefore, I think it is best to remove the package on these
architectures, rather than claiming support for something that
receives no testing and that nobody uses.
This does *not* mean that any of the 32-bit architectures will lose
AppStream support - data is generated for Debian for all release
architectures on our infrastructure, on machines that can easily run
appstream-generator.
If it turns out that later someone maintaining 32-bit architectures
really wants appstream-generator supported there, and they submit a
patch, I would of course accept it. Because that would show the tool
has users on these platforms and someone is looking into it.
But for now, I think it's best to remove it from the 2 32-bit arches
that the D version has been built for before.
