Hello. I uploaded 0.23.2-1 for unstable today, and it built ok on powerpc on the official buildds. This is usually (but *not* always) a sign that the package is ok. In this particular case, the build log that you shared differs from the one we can find in buildd.debian.org in this significant way: -checking for Java virtual machine... java -checking for Java compiler... javac -Xlint:-options -source 1.8 +checking for Java virtual machine... no +checking for Java compiler... no The gettext package has a build-dependency on default-jdk. If the Java virtual machine does not work, this may indicate a problem in the Java virtual machine, or maybe some kind of problem in your machine, but most likely not a problem in the gettext package itself. If I'm mistaken, feel free to reopen (but in such case please provide a lot more information than the one provided so far). Thanks.
