Here are just some points: - have a look at https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/n/nodepass/ a lot of issues are already listed there - an upstream tar ball must not contain subdir debian/ also kill the sub dirs ".git" and ".github" from it. - debian/changelog contains all changes /after/ initial upload.
