Hey. needrestart’s -o option is meant to be used with prometheus-node-exporter text file collector. This requires some periodic dumping of the metrics into /var/lib/prometheus/node-exporter, which the added systemd units do. I found no repo for the source package on salsa, so setup my own just to manage the patches. The first patch contains the main functionality (added units and their installation). The second patch merely makes it easier to customaise the systemd service. The third patch is merely for your convenience should you prefer an /etc/default config file (which I would suggest no to use, there are systemd drop-in configs for just that purpose). So From my side, don't apply the 3rd. The timer/service are not enabled per default, so shouldn't make a difference for normal users Please see the patches' commit messages for description.
