I fsckup up. While 1.9.0 does fix build problems on 32-bit arches, this
bug is about failing runtime test cases under certain circumstances.
The suggested patch to debian/rules was not applied, so I shouldn't have
assumed this bug was fixed. Sorry. Reopened the bug.
