In both theme conditions no text is visible.
It's working fine here (tried on a laptop with GNOME from experimental,
and on GNOME and Cinnamon VMs with GNOME from unstable). In a slow VM
it does take a few seconds for content to appear, with the
arrow-with-spinner cursor, but that doesn't match the symptoms you
reported.
Moving the mouse cursor
inside the
windows makes sometimes turn the cursor from arrow (default) to the
hand/link
one. I believe this is because I am hovering the mouse where some text is
supposed to be displayed, but it's same color as the background.
That does sound like a text rendering problem where the text is either
the same colour as the background, or laid out but not rendered for some
other reason.
What desktop environment are you using?
Are you using a non-standard theme (other than Adwaita) or some other
unusual configuration?
