are all the daemons running out of the same init script and package?
if so, i'm thinking that this is what it should in fact do. the package
is being upgraded for example we need to stop all mysql services or
risk corrupting data in a worst case situation.
in any case, i don't think we'll accept the patch until we have
a better idea of what your specific situation is. could you tell us
more about your setup?
