But it doesn't display, you say? Then it's quite a big problem. However, it does work for me. What if you remove (or rename) your ~/.lyx directory, does it make any difference? Also, I'm a bit confused about the "T1" in the error message, since the cmr font in latex-xft-fonts is a truetype font, at least on my system.
