Package: xfce4 Version: 4.20.1 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: [email protected]
Dear Maintainer, I installled xfce4 from an up-to-date unstable without any existing desktop: $ apt-get --install-recommends install xfce4 I rebooted and logged in to xfce4. Upon login, I was greeted with this error prompt: "XFCE PolicyKit Agent GDBus.Error.org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1.Error.Failed: An authentication agent already exists for the given subject" Looking at the installed packages, both mate-polkit and xfce-polkit were installed. I purged mate-polkit from the system, and the error message no longer appears. This appears related to the recenty closed bug #1090384. From what I can tell, mate-polkit was added as a recommends, because xfce-polkit was not in testing due to a release freeze. What I can't understand is how xfce-polkit is currently getting picked up. I see no reverse-depends on it, even though the apt-get install of xfce4 absolutely installed it: $ dpkg -l xfce-polkit ii xfce-polkit 0.3+v20220621-2 amd64 Simple PolicyKit authentication agent for Xfce $ apt-cache rdepends xfce-polkit xfce-polkit Reverse Depends: -- System Information: Debian Release: forky/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.16.8+deb14-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU thread; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages xfce4 depends on: ii libxfce4ui-utils 4.20.2-1 ii thunar 4.20.5-1 ii xfce4-appfinder 4.20.0-2 ii xfce4-panel 4.20.4-1 ii xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin 0.4.9-1 ii xfce4-session 4.20.3-1 ii xfce4-settings 4.20.2-1 ii xfconf 4.20.0-1 ii xfdesktop4 4.20.1-1 ii xfwm4 4.20.0-1 Versions of packages xfce4 recommends: ii desktop-base 14.0.0~pre2 pn mate-polkit <none> ii tango-icon-theme 0.9.0-1 ii thunar-volman 4.20.0-1 ii xfce4-notifyd 0.9.7-2 ii xorg 1:7.7+25 Versions of packages xfce4 suggests: pn xfce4-goodies <none> pn xfce4-power-manager <none> -- no debconf information
