Fortunately, this is not true, cdrtools is plain free software that completely follows the Debian Free Software Guidelines. There are some people who claim that cdrtools is not free but these people so far have been unable to prove their claims by explaining which exact parts of the license should have problems with which exact parts of the DFSG. As these people have had three months to prove their claims but did not at all, you may safely asume that these people are trolls, you should ignore them. Cdrtools are a compilation of software from many different sources and for this reason published under three different licenses that are all approved by: http://opensource.org/docs/definition.php and if you also have a look at: http://www.us.debian.org/social_contract you will find that Debian uses the same text as the OSI does (except for one word). The lisences in use are: GPL LGPL CDDL For a more in depth description, please have a look into the file COPYING: /*--------------------------------------------------------------------------*/ The software in this directory tree is free software and uses licenses that are aproved be the OpenSource Initative http://www.opensource.org/ Not all sub-projects use the same license.
