Subject: check-all-the-things: recommends xxxx which is not in unstable Package: check-all-the-things Version: 2025.02.06 Severity: minor User: [email protected] Usertags: package-relations
Dear maintainer, I see that the package check-all-the-things (version 2025.02.06) recommends differents packages that are not in unstable (some are gone, etc.). This can be seen in https://packages.debian.org/unstable/check-all-the-things I see the following recommended packages that doesn't seem to be available, I've added a note to some of them (usually the note is information from https://tracker.debian.org): -gendarme : removed from unstable on 2024-09-04 -gettext-lint : removed from unstable on 2021-02-08 -golint : removed from unstable on 2022-09-06 -libcroco-tools : doesn't exist in unstable, unsure where can be found or if should recommend some other package to use the expected utilities -license-reconcile : removed from unstable on 2020-05-17 -lockdep : ? -php5-cli : probably can be removed because it's an "or" recommendation with another one that exists. Never existed this one as a package -pylint3 : I think that should be pylint (but I haven't checked what check-all-the-things needs and if probably by pylint) -checkmp3 : was removed from unstable on 2012-05-20 -foodcritic : was removed from unstable on 2020-03-13 -jlint : was removed from unstable on 2016-01-19 -librejs-cli : does not exist (should be someo ther package for some utility?) -lintian4python : was removed in 2015-02-19 For the removed (or not found packages): perhaps the required utility by check-all-the-things is available in some other package so should not be removed but just changed. And for other ones: perhaps there is dead code in check-all-the-things if the recommendation is removed. Or perhaps something else should be used. I've used check-all-the-things in the past and I found it useful! I am checking for invalid recommends in the project and found the list this way.
