in trixie systems that use SysV init: it was the only way to execute
"kexec -e" at the right time in the shutdown sequence.

Would you please restore it?

If it's necessary for sysvinit, you might consider adding it to orphan-sysvinit-scripts where people that care for sysvinit can actually test and verify that the script works.
