I've uploaded version 0~20231004-2 of kafel to mentors, which addresses all the issues you raised: * Added a symbols file with correct upstream versioning and Build-Depends-Package. * Enabled bindnow linker hardening via CFLAGS. * Closed the ITP bug (#1110377) in the changelog. * Removed trailing whitespace in debian/rules.
