I don’t think we need to rename them. I think we leave the base ar.dic and ar.aff and symlink all the country variants to them, the same way it was previously done. Basically, this ends up being one dictionary that has the standard Arabic spelling, but will display in the GUI with all the country names. I personally don’t like having symlinked dictionaries, because it makes the GUI look like there are customized dictionaries for each country’s regional differences when there aren’t. I do think it is a good idea to ship different dictionary files when they have been localized for each country. In this case, I wish LibreOffice would just display one Arabic entry and let people use it, because that reflects the dictionary we are actually shipping. But I think my reluctance to use symlinks is overcome in this case by the reality that none of these countries can claim to be the center of the Arabic language and some Arabic speakers have strong negative feelings towards some of these countries, so only picking one of them would end up being highly offensive to some users. -- Soren Stoutner so...@debian.org
