Open emacs-gtk and type in the following into the scratch buffer: small Epsilon U+03B5: ε straight Epsilon U+03F5: ϵ small Theta U+03B8: θ script Theta U+03D1: ϑ small Pi U+03C0: π small omega Pi (a variant of small Pi looking like small Omega) U+03D6: ϖ small Rho U+03C1: ρ tailed small Rho U+03F1: ϱ small Phi U+03C6: φ technical small Phi U+03D5: ϕ On my system, I see the same glyphs for each pair of the variants despite the underlying unicode positions being different; cf. the attachment. M-x describe-font yields this: name (opened by): -GOOG-Noto Sans Mono-normal-normal-normal-*-13-*-*-*-*-0-iso10646-1 full name: Noto Sans Mono:pixelsize=13:foundry=GOOG:weight=normal:slant=normal:width=normal:scalable=true file name: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/noto/NotoSansMono-Regular.ttf size: 13 height: 18 baseline-offset: 0 relative-compose: 0 default-ascent: 0 ascent: 14 descent: 4 average-width: 8 space-width: 8 max-width: 8 I kindly ask the the font itself is repaired (in this case, please reassign the bug report), or that emacs uses a different font by default.
