The autopkgtests started failing shortly after mariadb 11.4 was uploaded. In the 11.4 release notes it indicates that TLS will now be enabled by default[0].
Looking at the mariadb logs after the failed autopkgtests, I see this: > Jul 08 16:09:27 autopkgtest-lxd-wuacks mariadbd[5914]: 2025-07-08 16:09:27 3 > [Warning] Aborted connection 3 to db: 'unconnected' user: 'unauthenticated' > host: 'localhost' (This connection closed normally without authentication) > Jul 08 16:09:27 autopkgtest-lxd-wuacks debian-start[5944]: ERROR 2026 > (HY000): TLS/SSL error: SSL is required, but the server does not support it Running `echo '\s' | mysql --ssl=0` works: > -------------- > mysql from 11.8.2-MariaDB, client 15.2 for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using > EditLine wrapper > [snip] Mathias [0] -- https://mariadb.com/docs/release-notes/mariadb-community-server-release-notes/mariadb-11-4-series/what-is-mariadb-114#ssl-tls
