Am I wrong? Please read the situation there first.
Anyway, I need a volunteer to update im-config setting for KDE plasma who can
propose solid fix without breaking other desktop environment settings. This is
tough job but I think you can.
Casually removing "GTK_IM_MODULE, QT_IM_MODULE and SDL_IM_MODULE settings" may
resolve for some applications but may cause issues if GTK or SDL are used by
other applications. Have you checked impact for such cases?

FYI: I don't use KDE so I am not going to update this part of code without
strong support from others who are using such settings.
