Package: nautilus-cd-burner Version: 2.14.2-1 Severity: important Use case:
I want to burn a data DVD on Verbatim DVD+R media. The media supports upto 16x burn speed. The burner is capable of that as well. Unfortunately, at 16x, the media cannot be read back by the burner (CRC error), so I have to use 8x speed. Lower speeds are not recommended as well (discussion at cdfreaks, cdrlabs). Error description: I have inserted an empty media and want to burn at 8x speed. After selecting the burner, the speed 16x is offered, next to 12x, 24x, 32x, 40x, 48x. The burn program k3b offers 1x, 2x, 4x, 6x which is wrong as well. But there is a button next to the speed chooser list, titled "Determine supported writing speeds". After pressing it, the following speeds are offered: 2.4x, 4x, 8x, 12x, 16x. This is correct. I would like to see this functionality in nautilus-cd-burner as well, it is crucial for burning DVDs (it still is an art to burn error free DVDs unfortunately). The button is not needed, the function should be carried out automatically every time a new media is inserted, and after boot of the system if the user has already put in a blank DVD. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16.9 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages nautilus-cd-burner depends on: ii cdrdao 1:1.2.1-6 records CDs in Disk-At-Once (DAO) ii cdrecord 4:2.01+01a03-5 command line CD writing tool ii gconf2 2.14.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-0 1.11.4-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libbonobo2-0 2.14.0-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.14.0-2 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.0.4-2 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libeel2-2 2.14.1-2 Eazel Extensions Library (for GNOM ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-7 generic font configuration library ii libgail-common 1.8.11-2 GNOME Accessibility Implementation ii libgail17 1.8.11-2 GNOME Accessibility Implementation ii libgconf2-4 2.14.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglade2-0 1:2.5.1-2 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.10.3-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-keyring0 0.4.9-1 GNOME keyring services library ii libgnome2-0 2.14.1-2 The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.14.0-2 A powerful object-oriented display ii libgnomeui-0 2.14.1-2 The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 2.14.2-1 GNOME virtual file-system (runtime ii libgtk2.0-0 2.8.18-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice6 1:1.0.0-3 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libnautilus-burn3 2.14.2-1 Nautilus Burn Library - runtime ve ii libnautilus-extension1 2.14.1-5 libraries for nautilus components ii liborbit2 1:2.14.0-1.1 libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpango1.0-0 1.12.3-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpopt0 1.10-1 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libsm6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 Session Management library ii libx11-6 2:1.0.0-6 X11 client-side library ii libxcursor1 1.1.5.2-5 X cursor management library ii libxext6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxfixes3 1:3.0.1.2-4 X11 miscellaneous 'fixes' extensio ii libxi6 1:1.0.0-5 X11 Input extension library ii libxinerama1 1:1.0.1-4 X11 Xinerama extension library ii libxml2 2.6.26.dfsg-1 GNOME XML library ii libxrandr2 2:1.1.0.2-4 X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.0.2-4 X Rendering Extension client libra ii mkisofs 4:2.01+01a03-5 Creates ISO-9660 CD-ROM filesystem ii nautilus 2.14.1-5 file manager and graphical shell f ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-11 compression library - runtime Versions of packages nautilus-cd-burner recommends: ii dvd+rw-tools 6.1-2 DVD+-RW/R tools -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
