The current version of initramfs-tools (0.148.1) has a rewritten unmkinitramfs and an autopkgtest script for it. But the implementation in 0.147 also passes all test cases except those where all component archives are uncompressed, which is not something initramfs-tools ever generated. Does the new implementation of unmkinitramfs work any better on the working initramfs image?
That at least doesn't fail. Yes, it seems to extract the content.
If not, can you upload the image somewhere for me to inspect?
