The proposed improvements to upstream repacking have been included into a new branch "debian/experimental" in the packaging repository.
I’m going to keep it sitting there for a couple days, to give me some extra time to catch bugs. If all goes well I guess I’m going to send a new upload to experimental some time in the coming week.
