Package: coreutils Version: 9.7-2 Version: 9.1-1 Severity: minor Dear Maintainer,
If you ^Z dd status=progress, then resume it, it will issue a slew of updates to the status line; script shows this roughly corresponds to 1 update per suspended second, and the status is dumped after /every/ I/O until the "back-log" is cleared. Recording of a reproducer attached, best visualised with scriptreplay <(sed 's/\r/&\n/g' < typescript) -t <(sed s/179/0/ typescript2) There's no reason to do this, it looks weird, and may negatively impact performance.
