please consider maintaining setuptools on salsa.debian.org in a DEP-14 conforming repo. This would make it easier for others to track changes and contribute. Since setuptools is also a highly popular package consider team-maintaining it to avoid the bus factor. :) I'm open to doing the prep work for both items.
