The commit you identified, d00f352 (Drop the generation of mono-source), could easily be cherry-picked on top of the Bookworm version. It should not trigger any extra problem, as mono-source is already a leaf package that seems unused. The only difficulty here is that I never had to update a package in (old)stable, so all my packaging skills are specific to working with unstable. Would you be OK with guiding me through this process, or at least point me towards some documentation?
