Since there are many different possibilities to "disable" "cron", I would like to suggest that you in the future give more exact description of what you have done, for example like "I have commented out the entire entry in /etc/cron.d/logcheck" or "I have run systemctl disable --now cron" or something else.

I have noticed in this bugreports that we are suffering from many of those ambiguoties in different places, so I'll have to ask for mor exactness. This might help people to better understand your actions.
