This isn't actually quite true; it was added because it was a dependency
of a vendored copy of gi-docgen, which was used before gi-docgen was
considered stable enough to package.
It looks like it can now be removed.
But yes it can probably now be removed, because this package now runs
the packaged gi-docgen instead of vendoring its own copy.
