Hi, GNU Make now has a --shuffle option that simulates non-deterministic ordering of target prerequisites. See https://trofi.github.io/posts/238-new-make-shuffle-mode.html and also previous work in Debian by Santiago Vila: https://people.debian.org/~sanvila/make-shuffle/ This package fails to build with make --shuffle=reverse. This is likely to be caused by a missing dependency in debian/rules or an upstream Makefile. More information about this mass bug filing is available at https://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS/Shuffle Relevant part (hopefully): > make[2]: Entering directory '/build/reproducible-path/flexpart-9.02' > makefile.gfs_gfortran:86: update target 'outg_mod.o' due to: target does not > exist > gfortran -c -O2 > -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/fortran/x86_64-linux-gnu-gfortran-14 > -mcmodel=medium -O2 -fdefault-real-8 -fconvert=little-endian > -frecord-marker=4 -I/usr/include outg_mod.f90 > makefile.gfs_gfortran:86: update target 'point_mod.o' due to: target does not > exist > gfortran -c -O2 > -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/fortran/x86_64-linux-gnu-gfortran-14 > -mcmodel=medium -O2 -fdefault-real-8 -fconvert=little-endian > -frecord-marker=4 -I/usr/include point_mod.f90 > makefile.gfs_gfortran:86: update target 'flux_mod.o' due to: target does not > exist > gfortran -c -O2 > -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/fortran/x86_64-linux-gnu-gfortran-14 > -mcmodel=medium -O2 -fdefault-real-8 -fconvert=little-endian > -frecord-marker=4 -I/usr/include flux_mod.f90 > makefile.gfs_gfortran:86: update target 'xmass_mod.o' due to: target does not > exist > gfortran -c -O2 > -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/fortran/x86_64-linux-gnu-gfortran-14 > -mcmodel=medium -O2 -fdefault-real-8 -fconvert=little-endian > -frecord-marker=4 -I/usr/include xmass_mod.f90 > makefile.gfs_gfortran:86: update target 'oh_mod.o' due to: target does not > exist > gfortran -c -O2 > -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/fortran/x86_64-linux-gnu-gfortran-14 > -mcmodel=medium -O2 -fdefault-real-8 -fconvert=little-endian > -frecord-marker=4 -I/usr/include oh_mod.f90 > makefile.gfs_gfortran:86: update target 'unc_mod.o' due to: target does not > exist > gfortran -c -O2 > -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/fortran/x86_64-linux-gnu-gfortran-14 > -mcmodel=medium -O2 -fdefault-real-8 -fconvert=little-endian > -frecord-marker=4 -I/usr/include unc_mod.f90 > makefile.gfs_gfortran:86: update target 'cmapf_mod.o' due to: target does not > exist > gfortran -c -O2 > -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/fortran/x86_64-linux-gnu-gfortran-14 > -mcmodel=medium -O2 -fdefault-real-8 -fconvert=little-endian > -frecord-marker=4 -I/usr/include cmapf_mod.f90 > cmapf_mod.f90:28:7: > > 28 | use par_mod, only: dp > | 1 > Fatal Error: Cannot open module file 'par_mod.mod' for reading at (1): No > such file or directory > compilation terminated. > make[2]: *** [makefile.gfs_gfortran:86: cmapf_mod.o] Error 1 shuffle=reverse The full build log is available from: http://qa-logs.debian.net/2025/05/05/shuffle/reverse/flexpart_9.02-26_unstable_reverse.log If you reassign this bug to another package, please mark it as 'affects'-ing this package.
