Hi, GNU Make now has a --shuffle option that simulates non-deterministic ordering of target prerequisites. See https://trofi.github.io/posts/238-new-make-shuffle-mode.html and also previous work in Debian by Santiago Vila: https://people.debian.org/~sanvila/make-shuffle/ This package fails to build with make --shuffle=reverse. This is likely to be caused by a missing dependency in debian/rules or an upstream Makefile. More information about this mass bug filing is available at https://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS/Shuffle Relevant part (hopefully): > cc1: fatal error: ftoc_logc.c: No such file or directory > compilation terminated. > make[2]: [../../local/default.mk:83: ftoc_logc.o] Error 1 (ignored) > shuffle=reverse > ../../local/default.mk:74: update target 'ftoc_log.o' due to: target does not > exist > /build/reproducible-path/eso-midas-23.02pl1.0/23FEB/system/exec/esoext.exe -Z > -I/build/reproducible-path/eso-midas-23.02pl1.0/23FEB/incl -I../incl -f > ftoc_log.for > f77 -g -O2 -ffile-prefix-map=/build/reproducible-path/eso-midas-23.02pl1.0=. > -fstack-protector-strong -fstack-clash-protection -fcf-protection -std=legacy > -fallow-argument-mismatch -fallow-argument-mismatch -c ftoc_log.f > rm -f ftoc_log.f > makefile:45: update target '../exec/ftoc_log.exe' due to: target does not > exist > f77 -Wl,-z,relro ftoc_log.o ftoc_logc.o > -Wl,-rpath,/usr/lib/eso-midas/23FEB/lib -o ../exec/ftoc_log.exe > /usr/bin/ld: cannot find ftoc_logc.o: No such file or directory > collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status The full build log is available from: http://qa-logs.debian.net/2025/05/05/shuffle/reverse/eso-midas_23.02pl1.0-3_unstable_reverse.log If you reassign this bug to another package, please mark it as 'affects'-ing this package.
