I'm sorry to hear this. Did you have a backup, so you can restore the system back to its previous state? What was installed on the disk before? (Windows, another Linux, ...) To be extra sure, we understand correctly: there was an operating system installed on this machine, and that system was overritten by Debian installer? In which step of "Partitioning disks" did that happen? Directly at the beginning, or did you do anything in the partitioning menu, which caused the overriting later than?
