Please agree to the migration of the package to unstable.
Unfortunately, the FTP team accepted the package very late
and after a long wait. This package can be used to meaningfully
extend mkdocs and thus improve other doc packages in trixi in the future.

I tend to say: too late, we have to draw the line somewhere. But can you elaborate (without going into too much detail) how it would "meaningfully extend mkdocs"? One of the idea behind the soft freeze is to avoid new features that cause new bugs. Extending an existing package sounds like such a feature. For this meaningful extension to be meaningful, would we need to rebuild all the documentation we ship?

(For those following the process: I'm only considering because mkdocs is already in stable).
