Hi Lucas, thanks for filing this bug. I took a closer look at it and believe it is known upstream for quite a while (since Jun 2019) as https://github.com/xlab/treeprint/issues/10. I agree that this is an important issue that should be fixed, however, I don't think this is severe enough to warrant RC severity, hence downgrading to 'important'.
