Package: multipath-tools-boot Version: 0.11.1-1 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: jarl.gullb...@gmail.com
Dear Maintainer, I've recently upgraded this device from Debian 12 to Debian 13 as an experiment ahead of the full release. I have a medium-sized deployment of virtual machines of which this is one, and they all boot via iSCSI from a Linux-based SAN. When attempting to boot using the version of multipath-tools in Debian 13, the device unfortunately experiences a large number of IO errors, eventually leading to either a kernel crash or systemd bailing out with a BUS signal. If I boot from the old kernel and initramfs (6.1.0-32) which was created on Debian 12, the system boots successfully. I can see in the logs that dm-0 is created, so the paths do appear to be discovered and the device is appropriately created. It also does not appear to be related to the kernel version, because if I regenerate the initramfs using the old kernel (6.1.0-32) and the new Debian 13 system with multipath-tools 0.11.1, the same issue occurs. Should this issue remain in Debian 13's full release, I will be completely blocked from upgrading from Debian 12, and I imagine there are others similarly situated. I'd be happy to test any workarounds or suggested fixes, gather more information from my test system, or whatever else might be necessary to root cause this.
