This has been resolved, would the license from upstream suite you?
Otherwise I think he is open to suggestions.

Well, I'm fine with either packaging structure, but for me (and
probaly other translators) it is important to have this plugin
available both now (high time for translations!!) and in Trixie.

So maybe for now you can make a quick upload adding it back (with a
suitable debian/copyright entry, of course) and the make the
restructuring post-Trixie.

Would that work?

If there is anything I can do about it, please tell me asap, because
around easter real life is *very* dominant here, so I won't be able to
do much.
