Package: anacron Version: 2.3-11 Hello,
according to anacrontab anacron runs cron.{daily,weekly,monthly} niced.
Since niceness is inherited by parent processes, this leads to an
inheritance of the nice-level to any init-script and thus even to any
daemon which is restarted via the cron-scripts (e.g. due to logfile
rotation).
Since init-scripts are usually started without any special nice-level,
neither most of the scripts itself nor daemons usually care about
re(setting) their nice-level. Thus, the niced run-parts lead to niced
daemons, which is quite a big difference to the boot- as well as the
normal cron-mimic.
