Thanks for your quick response.  In the scenario I tried there is only a single 
rule
that I used. I am still not sure what "right" place means here. I will check 
further on this.

By "aide is unable to report", I meant after explicitly modifying the file and 
running an aide check,
"AIDE found differences between database and filesystem!!" message is not 
reported in system logs.
