Thank you very much for the detailed description of the current situation. This could be some useful information to add to release note, for end users being surprised by disappearing libraries.
I like LooseVersion2 very much and use it even in some Jupyter ETL workflow that have to cleanse garbage data; I'd like it to stay forever ;-) Can you please have a look at #1093514 too ?
